Farley in Writing

The internet is a treasure trove of information. If you step back and look closely though, you’ll discover the internet is also a place with a lot of seething rage and anger. It is time for all of us to lighten up a little bit. It’s time for us to make the internet a nicer place.

Who is Farley?

Hi there. I’m Farley. Whether that’s my real name or pseudonym… well, I’ll leave that up to you. Even if I told you Farley is my real name, do you believe everything you read online?

Farley in Writing is my own online space for contributing to the cacophony of voices that now lives on the internet. But here’s the thing: I want to do something different. And I want you to come along for the ride.

What is it I’m doing? I am doing my part to help the world lighten up a little by creating a website that looks at the lighter side of life. You see, I used to be a person who fit right in with the seething rage and anger of the online world. Then I had an epiphany: I discovered you cannot be happy by always being angry! So I turned over a new leaf. I have become a kinder, gentler Farley who looks for reasons to laugh. I’m the guy who tries to point out the positive, even in negative situations.

What You’ll Find Here

Farley in Writing is my attempt to help you have your own epiphany about happiness and anger. So I’m putting together a site with all sorts of content to make you laugh, smile, and even provoke some positive thought where it might otherwise not have occurred. So take a look around. You’ll find:

  • Blog Posts – My own personal thoughts on life in general. Sometimes posts are a mishmash of incomprehensible digital babbling, other times they might even make sense. Hopefully they will make you smile.
  • News Articles – Despite all the bad news out there, there is plenty of good news if you know where to look. I search diligently for good news that I can share with my readers in the hope that it inspires them to look for good news too.
  • Reviews – We all have opportunities to take in the culture through mass media. To help you avoid the seething rage and anger, I occasionally review different parts of pop culture hoping that it will steer you toward the lighter side of life.
  • Everything Else – Farley in Writing includes other pieces of content that do not fit neatly into one of the three other categories. I call it ‘everything else’. It might be sarcastic fake news, links to a funny video I saw online, jokes sent in by readers, or just about anything else I find amusing. Be warned though, things can get really weird.

Look, we all have enough stress in our daily lives just dealing with things like family and work. We do not need to be stressed out every time we go online by raging people who don’t seem to remember their mother’s advice about saying nothing if they can’t say something nice. If you’ve had enough of the anger, join me and let’s lighten things up a bit.

As the immortal Jimmy Buffett wrote:

It’s those changes in latitudes,

Changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.

With all of our running and all of our cunning,

If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.
